What goes wrong on the Ford EcoBoost Wet Belt
The 1.0 and 1.5 EcoBoost is a brilliant little engine until the wet belt starts shedding rubber into the sump. We've replaced these belts on hundreds of Fiestas, Focuses, B-Maxes, EcoSports and Pumas across Canterbury, Faversham and the surrounding Kent villages. Catch it early and you walk away with a perfect engine for under a grand. Leave it and you're looking at a four-figure rebuild.
Symptoms our Canterbury customers report
- ▸Knocking or rattling on cold start that fades after 30 seconds
- ▸Sudden oil light or low-pressure warning at idle
- ▸Rough running or misfire codes (P0300 family)
- ▸Black oily residue on the dipstick — that's belt dust
- ▸Loss of power, especially under load up Wincheap or the A2 slip road

How we replace it, step by step
- 1Bring the car in cold so we can scope the timing cover and oil pressure properly
- 2Strip the front cover, inspect belt and pump pickup, photograph everything
- 3Fit a new INA or Ford-spec belt, tensioner, idler and oil pump pickup pipe
- 4Drop the sump if there's heavy belt debris and clear it before refill
- 5Fresh Ford-spec 5W-20 oil and OE filter, road test, scan, hand keys back
Most Fiesta/Focus 1.0 EcoBoost jobs land between £695 and £895 depending on belt condition and whether the sump needs cleaning. 1.5 EcoBoost engines typically run £795–£950.

How long does the job take in your Canterbury workshop?+
Usually one full working day. Drop off in the morning, collect by 5pm. We'll keep you posted by text or WhatsApp.
Do you supply genuine Ford parts?+
We use INA or Ford-spec OE-equivalent timing kits — same supplier the dealer uses. Genuine Ford parts available on request, slight cost uplift.
What about the oil pump pickup?+
Always replaced as part of the job on EcoBoost engines. The pickup mesh traps belt debris and is the single biggest cause of follow-up failures if it's left in.
